Common questions
The liver is one of our largest and most important organs and is of great importance to our health. The liver breaks down and neutralizes harmful substances such as drugs and alcohol, but is also a crucial organ for our metabolism. The liver can regulate blood sugar levels by storing and releasing glucose into the blood for quick energy. It also produces bile, which helps break down fat and absorb it in the intestine. The liver is also important for the immune system and helps fight infections by filtering the blood and producing immune cells. It can also store important vitamins such as vitamins A, D and B12, as well as the minerals iron and copper.
Dandelion ( Taraxacum officinale ) is a flower that has long been used in traditional medicine to support liver function. Dandelion extract contributes to normal liver and gallbladder function and normal fat metabolism. Dandelion is thought to help the liver eliminate toxins and promote natural detoxification. Dandelion also contains flavonoids and polyphenols that can protect liver cells from damage caused by oxidative stress. Ginger ( Zingiber officinale ) may have several positive effects on liver health through its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and detoxifying properties.
( Cynara cardunculus (L.) ), or cardoon, is a powerful type of artichoke for liver health thanks to its detoxifying, anti-inflammatory, and bile-stimulating properties. Artichoke helps maintain
a healthy liver and we have chosen a well-documented extract, Altilix™. Altilix™ has been shown in studies to support the liver in several different ways, including by lowering the liver enzymes AST and ALT (if elevated).(1) The same study also showed that Altilix™ improved glucose metabolism and lipid profile in the study participants. (1). There are several well-conducted studies on Altilix™ and even more on artichoke in general with very good results for liver function and liver health.
Choline is a B-vitamin-like, water-soluble substance that is of great importance for liver health. The liver depends on choline to build important molecules for the body's cell membranes and plays a key role in cholesterol metabolism. Choline contributes to healthy liver function and normal fat metabolism in the liver and is for us an obvious ingredient in Liver Protection. We have chosen the best choline on the market in the form of Vitacholine®. VitaCholine® is a choline form of the highest purity, bioavailability and is clinically tested for liver health.
Curcumin C3 Complex® is a patented form of turmeric extract ( Curcuma longa ) with a full 95% curcuminoids. It is the most clinically studied turmeric extract on the market and is used as the Gold Standard for turmeric extract. Studies show that turmeric has a protective effect on the liver and contributes to liver health (2,3,4), partly through its anti-inflammatory properties but also as a potent antioxidant.
BioPerine® is a patented black pepper extract ( Piper nigrum ) that contains piperine, an active compound that increases the bioavailability of nutrients and phytochemicals. It is often used to improve the absorption of curcumin (turmeric) and choline, but it also increases the absorption of a variety of other herbs and nutrients.
Inositol is a B-vitamin that plays an important role in cell communication, fat metabolism, and liver function. It is particularly known for its ability to support detoxification and improve insulin sensitivity. Alpha-lipoic acid is a powerful antioxidant that plays an important role in liver health and detoxification. It is both water- and fat-soluble, which allows it to work throughout the body, including liver cells. Alpha-lipoic acid can also improve glucose uptake into cells, which reduces the risk of insulin resistance, which is important for preventing fat from accumulating in the liver.
