Yam root with diosgenin has been shown to relieve menopausal symptoms

Yam Dioscorea villosa has been shown to balance hormones in menopausal symptoms. Yam root has a long and well-documented history as a medicinal plant among the indigenous peoples of South America. Yam root is used in North and Central America and during the 1940s the plant also caught the interest of scientists. The roots and tubers of the plant were found to contain an interesting substance called diosgenin.

Balances hormones

Diosgenin contains precursors to what scientists call the “mother hormone” DHEA. The term “mother hormone” is used because DHEA can be converted into a number of hormones such as estrogen, testosterone, progesterone and cortisol. Yam is one of the plants known to naturally contain the highest concentration of phytonutrients – a substance needed for phytoestrogens to function optimally.

Support of vitamin B6 and biotin

Eleixir Borago is supplemented with vitamin B6 and biotin. The European Food Safety Authority has mapped the importance of these nutrients for women with symptoms of hormonal imbalance. Vitamin B6 helps to regulate hormonal activity. At the same time, B6 and biotin work together to maintain normal psychological function. These vitamins have also been shown to be important for maintaining normal mucous membranes and normal skin.

Rich source of GLA

Borage, or borage, has a high content of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). Normally, evening primrose oil and blackcurrant oil are talked about as good sources of GLA. But the fact is that borage/borage contains about 20% GLA, which is about twice as much as other GLA sources. It is this high GLA content that makes borage so interesting for research focusing on GLA.
